The F-Bomb — A Free Crochet Pattern (30-Minute Project!)

Dawn Walker

Sometimes you just need an F-Bomb! 😂 This quick little crochet project works up in about 30 minutes and makes a hilarious desk accessory, gag gift, or craft-show favorite. 💣

🧶 Materials

  • Bernat Blanket Yarn - Coal;  100% Polyester; 10.5 oz/300 g; 220 yds/201 m
  • 1 Skein makes 15 bombs
  • Premier Parfait Chunky - Seal; 100% Polyester; 3.5 oz/100 g; 131 yds/120m
  • 1 skein will make MANY (my favorite chenille yarn — affiliate link)
  • Small amount of red yarn for embroidering the "F"
  • Polyester fiberfill
  • 6 mm crochet hook
  • 4 mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

🪝 Hook Changes

Begin with the 6 mm crochet hook while working with the black Bernat Blanket yarn.
After Round 11, change to the gray Premier Parfait Chunky and switch to the 4 mm crochet hook for Rounds 12–18.

📖 Stitches Used

  • FO – Fasten Off
  • inc – increase
  • inv dec – invisible decrease
  • MR – Magic Ring (see video)
  • sc – single crochet
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • yo – yarn over

📐 Skill Level

Beginner

📏 Finished Size

Approximately 6" long when made with the recommended yarn and hook.

📏 Gauge

Exact gauge is not critical for this project. Maintain a firm, even tension so the stuffing does not show through the stitches.

✨ Special Stitches

Invisible Decrease Stitch

Inv dec – Single crochet 2 stitches together using the invisible decrease so as not to leave a seam.
Insert hook into front loop of next two stitches, yo, pull through, and complete the stitch.

📝 Pattern Notes

  • The F-Bomb is worked in rounds.
  • Change colors during the final yarn-over of the previous stitch unless otherwise noted.
  • Stuff firmly as you work.
