A Cozy Update from the Attic: New Yarn, a New Pup, and What’s Taking Shape

It’s a good feeling when things finally settle back into place — and that’s exactly how the Attic feels this week.

Nana’s Sleigh is officially back in the driveway 💙
No more dents, no more scuffs, and ready for whatever the season brings next. Sometimes the best progress comes after a pause, and this one feels like a fresh start.

Behind the scenes, the Attic has been quietly busy — testing new materials, finishing designs, and letting ideas take shape at the right pace.

🐶 Meet Déogee — A New Puppy Is Coming Soon

A brand-new puppy has found his way into Nana’s Attic — meet Déogee 🐾
He’s officially crocheted, cuddly, and already feels right at home. His name is pronounced D-O-G.

Déogee’s pattern is currently with the tech editor, where it’s being reviewed and polished to make sure it’s clear, accurate, and enjoyable to make. No rushing — just making sure it’s done right.

Once the tech edit is complete:

  • 📬 Newsletter readers will receive the pattern free first
  • 🛍️ After that, it will be released as a paid PDF

I’ll share exact timing as soon as everything is finalized. For now, just know that Déogee is coming — and he’s already earned his place in the Attic.

🧶 Maker’s Corner (Monthly Behind-the-Scenes)

Once a month, I include a Maker’s Corner section right here in the Attic blog. This space is especially for fellow knitters and crocheters who enjoy seeing what’s happening behind the stitches — the materials, the choices, and the quiet experimenting that goes into each piece.

If you’re here mainly for stories, feel free to skip ahead 💙
If you love the making side, this is for you.

What’s Up, Knitters & Crocheters 👋

Here’s what’s currently on my maker table and shaping this season in the Attic:

🐾 Déogee the Puppy — New Pattern (Coming Soon)

  • Skill level: Beginner–Intermediate
  • Very approachable for confident beginners
  • Finishing details (assembly, shaping, placement) are a bit more advanced — perfect for makers ready to gently level up
  • This pattern was tested using multiple plush yarns to compare structure, softness, and finished shape

🧵 New Yarn Discovery (and I’m Kind of Obsessed)

I recently received a box of a new yarn, and I have to share it.

  • Lion Brand Yarns Cover Story Posh Twist
This yarn truly surprised me — in the best way. It has significantly less fuzz than Parfait Chunky and holds its shape beautifully in finished plushies. Stitch definition is clearer, and the structure feels sturdier once stuffed. I’m genuinely impressed.

Why I Reach for Lion Brand Yarn

When I’m choosing yarn for Nana’s Attic Crochet, I’m thinking beyond color and softness — I’m thinking about durability, stitch definition, and how a finished piece will hold up over time. That’s why Lion Brand yarns are part of my regular rotation.

Lion Brand offers a wide range of yarns that work beautifully for plush animals, keepsake gifts, and everyday crochet projects. Whether I’m creating a cuddly friend meant for years of hugs or a decorative piece that needs to keep its shape, I know I can count on consistent quality and reliable results.

I especially love using yarns that are easy to care for, accessible to makers at all levels, and dependable enough that I feel confident recommending them to fellow crocheters. When I link to Lion Brand yarns here on the blog, it’s because they’re yarns I genuinely trust and use in my own work.

If you’re looking for yarn that balances softness, strength, and maker-friendly performance, Lion Brand is a wonderful place to start.

📖 A Gentle Storybook Club Reminder

Stories are still at the heart of Nana’s Attic — and they’re growing into something more intentional.

The Attic Storybook Club opens on February 14, 2026, and this first season will be our Founders Year.

Founding members will receive special bonuses created just for this very first year — something that will never be repeated again.

If you’d like a reminder when doors open (and don’t want to worry about forgetting or missing out), you can join the interest waiting list here:

No commitment — just a gentle nudge when it’s time.

From the Attic

This season feels like one of quiet progress — repairs finished, new yarn tested, patterns forming, and stories finding their place.

Thank you for being here, for reading along, and for sharing this cozy corner of the world with me.

Blessings from the Attic,
Nana Dawn 💙
